Address book & checkout
Let customers save multiple shipping and billing addresses in My Account and pick one with a click at checkout, in classic and Blocks checkout.
The address book lets customers save as many shipping and billing addresses as they need, such as Home, Office or Warehouse. At checkout, they pick one from a set of address cards instead of typing it again. This is useful for wholesale buyers who ship to several locations.
Turn on the address book
The address book is off by default.
- Go to ViteWholesale → Settings → General Settings.
- Turn on Custom Address Feature Enabled.
- Click Save Settings.
When it's on, the address book is available to every logged-in customer, wholesale or retail. Guests always get the normal WooCommerce checkout.
When it's off, customers use WooCommerce's normal single billing and shipping address.
The address book in My Account
With the feature on, the Addresses tab in My Account shows My Addresses instead of WooCommerce's usual two address forms. Each saved address appears as a card with its label, or with Shipping or Billing if it has no label. The default address carries a Default tag.
Add an address
- The customer clicks Add Address.
- They choose the Address Type: Shipping or Billing.
- They fill in the address. The fields are Address Label (for example
Warehouse), Company, First Name, Last Name, Country, Phone, City, State, Postcode, Address 1 and Address 2. For countries with a list of states, State is a dropdown. - They can tick Set as default to make this their default address of that type.
- They click Save.
The first address of each type automatically becomes the default for that type.
Manage addresses
From the menu on each card, the customer can Edit the address, Set as default or Delete it.
Note: When an address is saved as the default, it's also copied into the customer's standard WooCommerce billing or shipping address, so the two stay in sync.
Existing customers
A customer with no saved addresses doesn't start from an empty book. The first time their address book loads, the address already on their WooCommerce account is copied in as their first saved address. A brand-new customer with no address on file starts with an empty book and adds their first address themselves.
The checkout address picker
For logged-in customers, checkout shows the saved addresses as cards above the checkout form. This works with both the classic checkout and the Blocks checkout.
- Shipping: the default shipping address is selected automatically. Clicking another card fills WooCommerce's shipping fields with that address, and shipping rates update as usual. The native shipping fields are hidden while the cards are shown.
- Billing: when the customer chooses a different billing address, billing address cards appear too. Picking one fills the billing fields.
- New address: an Add Address button opens the same form as in My Account. The saved address is selected straight away.
- Editing: each card has an edit icon for quick corrections.
If an address can't be filled in automatically, the customer sees "Could not autofill the Shipping address — please enter it manually below." WooCommerce's own fields then reappear so they can type it in.
Addresses in quote requests
When a wholesale customer clicks Request Quote, they choose the shipping address for the quote from the same address book, and shipping methods are calculated for that address. See Quote negotiation.
- Feature on: customers can pick any saved address or add a new one in the quote window.
- Feature off: customers can still request quotes. They choose from their existing saved shipping addresses, or the quote uses their account address, but they can't add new addresses there.
Good to know
- Pro doesn't change how WooCommerce calculates shipping, tax or totals. It only fills in the address fields.
- If Pro is deactivated, customers go back to WooCommerce's standard address forms. Saved addresses aren't deleted.
