Customer badges

Create wholesale badges, attach pricing rules and payment methods, choose a default badge, and safely delete badges in use.

A badge is a wholesale tier, such as Bronze, Silver or Gold. Every wholesale customer holds one badge, and the badge decides which pricing rules apply to them and which payment methods they can use at checkout.

Create a badge

  1. Go to ViteWholesale → Badges and click Add Badge.
  2. Under Badge Information, enter a Badge Title (required) and an optional Description.
  3. Under Pricing Rules, select one or more pricing rules. Only these rules apply to customers holding this badge.
  4. Under Payment Methods, optionally select the payment gateways this badge may use. See "Restrict payment methods" below.
  5. Under Badge Options, set the Upgrade Threshold if you use badge upgrades, and leave Status on.
  6. Click Save.

To change a badge later, click Edit on its row and then Save Changes.

Set the default badge

The default badge is the badge customers receive automatically when you approve their wholesale application. New badges aren't the default, so choose one yourself:

  1. In the badge list, click Set as default on the badge you want.
  2. Confirm Set as default Badge?

Only one badge can be the default at a time, and setting a new one replaces the old one. The current default shows a Default label.

A few rules protect the default badge:

  • It can't be deactivated. Set another badge as default first.
  • It can't be deleted.
  • At least one badge must always remain the default once you've set one.

How pricing rules work with badges

A badge can hold several pricing rules. When a customer adds a product, Vite Wholesale checks every active rule on their badge. If more than one rule matches the same product, the Rule Priority Strategy setting decides which price wins: the lowest (Minimum Price, the default) or the highest (Maximum Price). See Settings.

A rule that is attached to a badge can't be deleted or deactivated. Remove it from the badge first.

If you deactivate a badge, customers holding it stop getting wholesale prices until you reactivate it or give them another badge.

Restrict payment methods

Badges can limit which payment gateways their customers see at checkout, for example allowing only bank transfer for your Gold tier.

  1. Select the allowed gateways in the badge's Payment Methods field.
  2. Go to ViteWholesale → Settings and turn on Enable Badge Payment.

The restriction applies to the classic checkout, the Blocks checkout and the order-pay page. Keep in mind:

  • If a badge has no payment methods selected, its customers see all gateways.
  • If none of the selected gateways is currently available, customers see all available gateways instead of none.
  • The restriction does nothing while Enable Badge Payment is off.

Upgrade Threshold

Upgrade Threshold is the minimum purchase amount a customer needs for this badge. In the badge list, a threshold of 0 shows as Admin assign only.

When you assign a badge manually on the Customers screen, you see a warning if the customer's spend is below that badge's threshold. You can still save the assignment.

Pro: With Badge upgrades, customers whose lifetime spend passes a higher badge's threshold are flagged on the Customers screen, and you can upgrade them with one click. An optional auto-upgrade setting, off by default, can upgrade eligible customers automatically.

Delete a badge

  1. Click Delete on the badge's row. The default badge has no Delete button.
  2. If no customers hold the badge, confirm the deletion.
  3. If customers hold it, the dialog shows how many. Choose a Replacement Badge, then click Delete. Those customers move to the replacement badge first, so nobody loses wholesale access by accident.

You can't choose the badge you're deleting as its own replacement.

Assign badges to customers

Customers get badges in two ways:

  • Automatically when you approve their application. They receive the default badge.
  • Manually from ViteWholesale → Customers, where you can assign or change any customer's badge. See Managing customers.
