Badge upgrades
Move wholesale customers to a higher badge as their lifetime spend grows, with one-click upgrades from the Customers screen and optional auto-upgrade.
Badge upgrades reward customers who spend more. Give each badge a spend threshold. When a customer's lifetime spend passes the threshold of a higher badge, Pro flags them as eligible and you can upgrade them in one click. You can also let Pro upgrade eligible customers automatically.
How it works
- Lifetime spend: Pro adds up the totals of a customer's orders that are in the order statuses you choose.
- Eligibility: a customer is eligible when their spend reaches the threshold of an active badge whose threshold is higher than their current badge's.
- Highest badge wins: if the customer has passed several thresholds, the target is the badge with the highest threshold they've reached. They can skip a tier.
- Up only: upgrades never move a customer to a lower badge, even if their spend later drops, for example after a refund.
- Customers with a badge only: a customer who has no badge yet isn't flagged. Their first badge comes from an approved application or from Assign Badge.
Step 1: Set badge thresholds
- Go to ViteWholesale → Badges and edit a badge.
- Under Badge Options, enter an Upgrade Threshold, for example
5000for a Gold badge. - Click Save.
A threshold of 0 means the badge is Admin assign only. Customers are never upgraded to it. Give your entry-level badge a low threshold or 0, and give higher badges progressively bigger thresholds. See Customer badges.
Step 2: Choose which orders count
- Go to ViteWholesale → Settings → General Settings.
- In Badge Upgrade Order Status, select one or more WooCommerce order statuses. The default is Completed.
- Click Save Settings.
Only orders in the selected statuses count toward a customer's total, for both manual and automatic upgrades.
Upgrade customers from the Customers screen
Go to ViteWholesale → Customers. With Pro active, the list has a Total Spent column.
When a customer is eligible, an upgrade icon appears next to their current badge, with the tooltip Upgrade to and the badge name.
- Click the icon. A Badge Upgrade Available box shows the customer's total spend and the threshold of the badge they qualify for.
- Click Yes to upgrade them.
You see "Customer badge upgraded successfully". The customer's new badge, and its pricing rules, apply straight away. This option is always available, whichever upgrade type you choose.
Turn on auto-upgrade (optional)
The Badge Upgrade Type setting has two options:
| Option | What happens |
|---|---|
| Manual (default) | You upgrade customers by hand from the Customers screen once they cross a threshold. |
| Automatic | Once a day, Pro also checks every wholesale customer and upgrades those who are eligible. One-click upgrades stay available too. |
Auto-upgrade uses exactly the same rules as the manual button.
Customer notification
When a customer is upgraded, manually or automatically, Pro sends them the Badge Upgraded email with their new badge name. The email is only sent while Enable Email Notification is on and the template is active. See Email templates.
Good to know
- Spend totals: they are full order totals from the selected statuses. If you count Processing as well as Completed, orders count as soon as they are paid.
- Inactive badges: they are never upgrade targets. See Customer badges.
- Manual moves: you can still move a customer to any badge, including a lower one, with Assign Badge. See Managing customers.
